Story: Life's simple formula for Dylan ( Justin Timberlake) and Jamie ( Mila Kunis) is all about friends helping each other in times of need. Even if that means getting naughty when you're in the mood and there's no one around. Of course, no strings attached. Easy? Not really, for complication's the name of the game...
Movie Review: One's a New York head hunter for GQ. The other's an LA super art director. One can't have enough of the Prince Charming formula. The other just can't get over Hollywood's love stories. But both Dylan and Jamie are presently heartbroken -- reason enough for them to bond outside the workplace. And what are buddies there for? To make you move on, to help you in times of need.... and a little bit of being sex buddies too, if there's no one around and no emotional baggage to clutter the bond with. Just make sure there are no strings attached when in bed. What's that? Well, the usual Hollywood jazz of no commitment and no I-miss-you moves.
But getting physical has never been that easy, has it? Not at least for Hollywood romcoms. Remember Ashton Kutcher's No Strings Attached? So what's different with this one? Not the funny anecdotes, courtesy Jamie's mother (Patricia) who just can't remember which country Jamie's dad (now her ex) belongs to -- sometimes Russia, sometimes Asia. It's the chemistry between Timberlake and Kunis which is smooth, perfect, crackling. You actually end up giving them the benefit of doubt... despite the romcom's cliches! |
